MeetOnChai

Technology

WordPress & WooCommerce development.

A proven store you can run yourself, with the local bits done properly.

MeetOnChai Studio builds WordPress and WooCommerce stores when a proven commerce platform is the smartest use of your budget. Giftkdiu, a same-day gifting store for Nepal, runs on WooCommerce with eSewa and Khalti payments, city-based delivery zones, time-slot selection and WhatsApp ordering.

Why we use it

Why WordPress & WooCommerce, and when not.

WooCommerce gives you products, cart, checkout, orders, coupons, stock and emails on day one. That means the budget goes into the parts that make your store different instead of rebuilding a cart. For Giftkdiu, that was delivery zones across several cities, delivery date and time at checkout, and local payments, all on a platform that already works.

It is also easy to run. Your team can add products, change prices, publish offers and process orders from a dashboard they can learn in an afternoon, without calling a developer for every change. WordPress hosting is cheap and widely available, including in Nepal, and you own your store outright with no monthly platform fee on top.

When it's the wrong call: If your store has unusual logic at its core, such as complex product builders, marketplace flows with many sellers, or very high traffic spikes, WooCommerce starts fighting you and a custom build on Next.js can be the better long-term bet. WordPress also needs regular plugin and security updates; if nobody will look after it, a hosted platform like Shopify may suit you better. And stacking dozens of plugins is how WooCommerce stores get slow, so we keep that list short.

What we build

What we build with WordPress & WooCommerce.

  1. 01

    Local e-commerce stores

Stores for Nepali customers with eSewa and Khalti, cash on delivery and delivery charges by area.

  2. 02

    Gifting and same-day delivery

Delivery date and time slots, city-based zones and gift messages, built for the diaspora sending gifts home.

  3. 03

    WhatsApp-first ordering

Letting customers who prefer a conversation send a ready-made order on WhatsApp, alongside normal checkout.

  4. 04

    Custom plugins and tweaks

Small, focused custom code for the one feature no plugin does well, instead of three plugins taped together.

  5. 05

    Speed and cleanup work

Auditing slow stores, removing plugin bloat, fixing image and caching setup, and getting Core Web Vitals back in shape.

  6. 06

    Business and content sites

WordPress sites your team can edit themselves, built on a lightweight theme rather than a heavy page builder.

Honest comparison

WordPress & WooCommerce vs the alternatives.

  • vs Shopify

Easier to run with hosting and security handled for you, but with monthly fees, app costs and less control. Local Nepali gateway support is also more limited, which often tips stores here toward WooCommerce.

  • vs Custom build on Next.js

Faster and fully tailored, as with MangoMasti and Oryizon, but more expensive to build and change. Worth it when the store's logic or performance is the product.

  • vs Social selling only

Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp can carry a small business a long way. A store becomes worth it when order volume, catalog size or trust start to outgrow DMs.

FAQ

WordPress & WooCommerce questions.

Can WooCommerce accept eSewa and Khalti?

Yes. Giftkdiu takes both. We set up the payment gateways, test real transactions end to end, and make sure an order is only marked paid after the gateway confirms it.

WooCommerce or Shopify for a store in Nepal?

For most Nepali stores that need eSewa, Khalti and local delivery rules, WooCommerce is the more flexible and affordable choice. Shopify makes sense if you sell mainly abroad, want zero server upkeep and are happy paying its monthly fees.

Will my WooCommerce store be slow?

It does not have to be. Slow stores are usually caused by heavy themes, too many plugins and poor hosting. We keep the plugin list short, use a lightweight theme, and set up caching and image optimisation properly from the start.

Can we manage products and orders ourselves?

Yes, that is one of the main reasons to choose WooCommerce. We hand over a store your team can run from the dashboard, plus a short walkthrough of the tasks you will do every day.

Who keeps WordPress and plugins updated?

You can, or we can under a maintenance plan. Updates matter for security, so we set up backups first and test updates on a staging copy before applying them to the live store.
