Software Company in Kathmandu

A senior studio down the road, not a sales team in another time zone.

MeetOnChai Studio is a software development company based in Kathmandu. We build web apps, online stores, mobile apps and AI features for founders and businesses in the Valley, and we're close enough to sit down over chai when a whiteboard beats a video call. Same people from the first call to launch day.

Why MeetOnChai for Kathmandu

Reasons clients pick us.

  1. 01

    We can actually meet you

Most of our work is remote, but for clients in the Valley a kickoff or a tricky scope conversation can happen in person. Some decisions go faster across a table than across a screen.

  2. 02

The people you meet are the people who build

No account manager handing notes to a junior team. The senior developers on the first call are the ones writing your code and answering your messages.

  3. 03

We know how Kathmandu buys online

Wallet payments, cash on delivery, WhatsApp before checkout, delivery that depends on which side of the Ring Road you're on. We design around that rather than copying a template built for somewhere else.

  4. 04

    No cross-border paperwork

Working with a developer in your own city keeps contracts, invoices and payments simple. No international transfers or exchange-rate questions for your accountant.

  5. 05

    Same working hours, same holidays

We plan sprints around Dashain and Tihar the same way you plan your business around them, so nobody is surprised when the city slows down.

Why a Kathmandu business should care where its developers sit

For a lot of projects, location genuinely doesn't matter, and we'd be the first to say so. Where it does matter is the messy start: working out what you actually need, which payment provider fits, what happens when the courier can't find the address. Those conversations go better when your developer has ordered from the same stores and dealt with the same delivery problems.

It also matters when something breaks. A team that shares your time zone and your calendar isn't asleep when your festive sale goes live. We're on the same clock as your customers.

Chai first, proposal second

The name isn't a gimmick. Our first step with any client is a short conversation about the problem, not a slide deck. In Kathmandu that can be a real cup of chai. Elsewhere it's a video call with a mug in frame.

You leave that conversation with an honest read on what to build first, even if the answer is that you don't need us yet. Then, if it makes sense, a written scope with what's in, what's out and a price, before any code is written.

Built in Kathmandu, used well beyond it

Being based here doesn't mean we only build for here. The same team ships stores for Indian brands and B2B platforms for buyers sourcing from Nepal. That outside work keeps our standards honest, and Kathmandu clients get the same process our international clients pay for.

How a project runs

From first chai to launch day.

No black boxes. You see working software every two weeks and can change direction between sprints.

  1. Step 1 · 15 min, free

    Chai call

We talk about the problem, not the proposal. You leave with an honest read on what to build first, even if it isn't with us.

  2. Step 2 · 3-5 days

    Scope

A written scope with what's in, what's out and a fixed price or sprint budget. NDA signed before any of the details.

  3. Step 3 · 4-12 weeks

    Build in 2-week sprints

Working software every two weeks on a live preview link. You can change priorities between sprints without renegotiating everything.

  4. Step 4 · 30 days included

    Ship & support

We launch with monitoring and a rollback plan, hand over docs and access, and fix bugs for 30 days. Ongoing support if you want it.

FAQ

Working with us from Kathmandu.

Can we meet in person in Kathmandu?

Yes. For clients in the Valley we're happy to meet for a kickoff or a scoping session. Day to day we work over calls, WhatsApp and a shared preview link, which keeps meetings short and decisions written down.

Do you work with small businesses in Kathmandu, or only startups?

Both. What matters is that the project has a clear problem to solve. If a simpler, cheaper option would serve you better, we'll tell you on the first call.

Can you add eSewa and Khalti to our website?

Yes. We've shipped stores in Nepal that take eSewa and Khalti, alongside cash on delivery and WhatsApp ordering. We test the full payment flow, including what happens when a payment is cancelled halfway.

How long does a website or app take to build?

MVPs typically take 4-8 weeks and full products 2-4 months. We work in two-week sprints with a live preview link, so you see working software throughout rather than waiting for a big reveal.

What happens after launch?

Bug fixes are included for 30 days after launch. After that you can move to a maintenance plan or call us when you need something. Either way you get the code, the access and the documentation.
