Offshore Software Development in Nepal

A senior team in Kathmandu that writes things down and ships while you sleep.

MeetOnChai Studio is a software development studio in Kathmandu working with clients in the US, UK, Europe, Australia and the Gulf. We build web apps, SaaS products, mobile apps and AI features with a small senior team, and we run projects async-first: written updates, decision logs and a live preview link every sprint, with overlap hours for the conversations that need a call.

Why MeetOnChai for Nepal

Reasons clients pick us.

  1. 01

A time zone that works with most of the world

Kathmandu is GMT+5:45. That overlaps comfortably with the Gulf and Europe, gives Australia a shared afternoon, and leaves a usable morning or evening window with the US.

  2. 02

Async by design, not by accident

We batch questions, front-load decisions and send clear written updates, so a time gap doesn't turn into a stalled day. You wake up to progress, not to a list of blockers.

  3. 03

    Senior people, small team

You work directly with the developers building your product. No layers of project managers, no bait-and-switch where seniors sell and juniors deliver.

  4. 04

Fluent in English and in written specs

Everything is documented in English: scope, decisions, handover notes. Six weeks in, when someone asks why something was built a certain way, the answer is already written down.

  5. 05

    Your IP stays yours

We sign your NDA before detailed discussions, and at the end you get the code, the access and the documentation. Nothing is held back to keep you dependent on us.

How the time difference actually plays out

For clients in the Gulf, the gap is under two hours, so it barely registers. For the UK and Europe, our afternoon is your morning, which gives a solid shared window every working day. Australia gets our morning as your afternoon. The US is the stretch: there's a short overlap at the edges of the day, and we use it for the calls that genuinely need to be live.

Everything else runs async. You review the preview link and leave feedback in your day, we work through it in ours. Done well, the time difference becomes an advantage: work moves forward while you're offline, and you start your morning with something new to look at.

What async-first means in practice

Most remote problems are really unclear-communication problems that a time zone makes harder to ignore. A question sits unanswered, nobody can move, a day disappears. We design our process to prevent that.

We compile questions into one clear update instead of a drip of messages. We agree decisions before a phase starts rather than mid-build. We keep a shared decision log for the whole project. It feels like overhead for the first week, then it saves you hours every week after.

Why Nepal, and why us specifically

Nepal is a smaller, less crowded place to hire than the usual offshore destinations, which means you're more likely to get a studio that cares about each client because it doesn't have hundreds of them. We're a small team by choice, and we'd rather do fewer projects properly.

We'll also tell you when we're the wrong fit. If you need round-the-clock coverage, a team of twenty, or someone embedded full-time in your office hours, a larger firm will suit you better, and we'll say so on the first call.

How a project runs

From first chai to launch day.

No black boxes. You see working software every two weeks and can change direction between sprints.

  1. Step 1 · 15 min, free

    Chai call

We talk about the problem, not the proposal. You leave with an honest read on what to build first, even if it isn't with us.

  2. Step 2 · 3-5 days

    Scope

A written scope with what's in, what's out and a fixed price or sprint budget. NDA signed before any of the details.

  3. Step 3 · 4-12 weeks

    Build in 2-week sprints

Working software every two weeks on a live preview link. You can change priorities between sprints without renegotiating everything.

  4. Step 4 · 30 days included

    Ship & support

We launch with monitoring and a rollback plan, hand over docs and access, and fix bugs for 30 days. Ongoing support if you want it.

FAQ

Working with us from Nepal.

How much overlap will we have with your team?

It depends on where you are. The Gulf and Europe get a comfortable shared window every working day, Australia overlaps in our morning, and the US has a shorter window at the start or end of the day. We schedule live calls there and run everything else async.

How do you communicate with clients in other time zones?

Mostly in writing: batched updates, a shared decision log and a live preview link every two-week sprint. Video calls for the decisions that need them, and email or WhatsApp for quick questions. We reply within 24 hours.

Will you sign an NDA and hand over full ownership?

Yes. We sign your NDA before any detailed discussion. At handover you get the source code, infrastructure access and documentation, so you can keep building with us or with anyone else.

Is offshore development in Nepal cheaper?

Often, yes, compared with hiring locally in the US, UK or Australia. But we're not the lowest bidder and won't pretend to be. You'll get a written scope and a fixed price or sprint budget after a short discovery call, so you can compare properly.

What happens if something breaks while you're offline?

We launch with monitoring and a rollback plan, so most issues are caught and reversed quickly. Bug fixes are included for 30 days after launch. If you need guaranteed round-the-clock response, that's a managed-ops arrangement and we'll be upfront that it isn't what we offer.
