UI/UX Design

MeetOnChai Studio designs interfaces for products where usability decides whether people stick around, for the person who's tired and just wants to get something done, not a portfolio piece. UI/UX design work is scoped alongside development, so what we design is what actually ships, not a handoff that gets reinterpreted by an engineering team.

Design for the person who is tired and half-paying attention

The user in most design presentations is calm, focused, and reading every label. Your actual user is on a phone, one-handed, mildly annoyed, doing this between two other things. They are not going to discover your clever navigation.

We design for that person. It means obvious over elegant when the two conflict, labels over icons when meaning matters, and a shorter path even when a longer one shows off more of the product. Interfaces built this way test better with real people and generate fewer support tickets, which is the part that shows up in your costs later.

A design system beats a folder of screens

Designing screens one at a time works fine until roughly screen ten, when you notice four button styles, three shades of the same grey, and spacing that drifts. Then every new feature needs a design decision, and consistency erodes with each one.

We build the shared pieces first, type scale, spacing, colour, states, the components you'll reuse everywhere. New screens then get assembled from parts that already agree with each other. It's slower for the first week and considerably faster for every week after.

Design and build in the same room

The usual failure isn't bad design or bad engineering, it's the handoff. A design gets specified, thrown over a wall, and quietly reinterpreted by whoever implements it. What ships resembles the mockup without matching it, and nobody can point to where it diverged.

We scope design alongside development, so the people making the visual decisions are talking to the people wiring them up. Awkward cases, empty states, long names, slow connections, error messages, get settled while they're still cheap to settle.

What's Included in UI/UX Design

User interface design for web and mobile products

Design scoped alongside development, so nothing gets lost in handoff

Interfaces built around the tired, distracted, real-world user, not a best-case demo user

Design systems reused across a product so new screens stay consistent

Accessibility considered from the start, not retrofitted

How We Approach UI/UX Design

We start from the job the user came to do

Not a moodboard. We work out what someone is actually trying to accomplish, then design the shortest path to it.

We design for the tired, distracted user

Interfaces get tested against the person half-paying attention on a phone, not the best-case demo user who reads every label.

We build a system, not one-off screens

Shared components and tokens mean the tenth screen stays consistent with the first, and new features don't need a redesign.

We design alongside development

What gets designed is what ships. No handoff where an engineering team quietly reinterprets the spec.

When UI/UX Design Isn't the Right Call

Design engagements go wrong when the brief is vague. These are the cases where we'd send you to someone better suited.

UI/UX Design, Common Questions

How long does web app development take?

MVPs typically take 4-8 weeks. Full products range from 2-4 months. We break projects into sprints and deliver working features every 2 weeks, so you see progress continuously.

Do you offer MVP development for startups?

We love working with both! Startups get our MVP expertise and speed. Established companies get scalable solutions and integration with existing systems. We adapt our approach based on your stage.

How do you handle scope changes during a development project?

Changes are normal! We use agile development, so you can adjust priorities between sprints. Major scope changes might affect timeline and cost, which we'll discuss transparently before proceeding.
